Girl’s Progressive Classes
The Progressive program is for girls 6 and up. We strive to provide our students with a non-competitive, fun and safe environment. We nurture both the physical and mental growth of our gymnast preparing them for all areas of life. Gymnastics allows athletes to develop strength, flexibility and agility.
Classes begin with a 10-15 stretch and warm up. Stretching is vital part of class as it prevents injuries. Be on time, dress like an athlete and if you have long hair wear it up.
All gymnast receive progression cards that are sent home each session. When skills have been checked off by their coach they may progress to the next level
Level 1 is designed to provide the introductory skills of gymnastics. Your athlete will learn skills on floor such as forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheel, bridge and handstands. On bars, gymnast will gain confidence, learn how to cast and pullover the bar. Basic walks on beam will be taught and the correct way to jump on a springboard.
Level 2 gymnasts will expand and add to skills achieved in level 1. New floor skills will be round off, backbend kick over, handstand forward roll and front limber.
Level 3 gymnasts will be mastering the back walk over, front walk over and back handsprings on floor. Bar skills include front hip circle along with a handstand on beam.
Level 4 & 5 gymnast tumbling on the floor, a shoot through on bars, cartwheel on beam and handspring vault along with many more skills. In order to be placed in level 4, the gymnast must be able to do a standing back handspring on tumble trak.
